1911 HD Higher Mag Catch Checkered in Blue by EGW

Finish: Blued
Compatible with: Most high quality 1911s - will not work in double stack or high cap 1911s.

The shelf on our EGW Higher Mag Catch is .020 higher, to hold the magazine higher in the frame. The button is extended .040" higher than the original 1911A1 factory button to ensure fast positive magazine release on the 1st try. Guns that have issues with nose dives will benefit from the higher mag placement (provided there is a small gap between the magazine and the frame in the front). The result is better feeding with 8 round 45 mags and hollow points. The higher mag catch is checkered for better grip. This part is NOT MIM or CAST. Our mag catches are NOT tapped for buttons. The button on our mag catch is standard GI spec.

Mag Catch Spring and Mag Catch Lock are sold separately.

Took a little fitting, but did the trick

Posted by Toby Johnson on Oct 27th 2017

I was having some small issues feeding the top round off my Tripp 10rd 10mm mags in my .40 Trojan. ..occasionally, it would nose dive a bit too far into the feed ramp to feed. It only happened occasionally, and when it did, slight pressure on the bottom of the mag would allow it to drop into batttery. The guys at Tripp suggested I use this part, so I gave it a shot. I read in many places that this was a 'drop in' part, but that was not the case for me. Took about an hour with some 800 grit paper, but then it fit perfectly...more importantly, it has made the gun 100% reliable even with a fully loaded 10 rounder.

    Bye bye 3 point jam

Posted by Unknown on Apr 28th 2017

My Kimber was not reliably cycling 200 gr SWC rounds. Had tried various OAL, radiused and polished the extractor, and throated the barrel, but was still getting some 3 point jams. Typically these would be with the first round in the magazine, and would happen with two different magazine models. With all of my magazines, I noticed there was a considerable gap between the base plate and the front strap of the frame. Suspecting a higher fitting magazine may solve the problem and the cost of this product being quite cheap I bought it. Now I could not be happier. No more problems. Before you make an irreversible change to your gun, if you are having a similar issue, try this out.
