It's a buff
Total material and machine time cost to make each of these is probably 25, maybe 50 cents? But what are you going to do, go out and buy a milling machine and make them yourself? If the answer is no, these will work.

Work great!
I installed these on my SA 9mm 1911, SA.45 acp 1911 and .40 STI Edge. All have lighter recoil springs. They all function fine. I like the protection they afford, plus since they are metal they do not change the way the guns feel or cycle. After several thousand rounds they still look new, except for a slight imprint on the face. Very pleased.
