Glock Magwells

A magwell widens the opening at the bottom of the grip so a magazine finds its way in under pressure. On a timed stage, that margin is the difference between a clean reload and a fumbled one. Ben Stoeger Pro Shop stocks competition magwells from Dawson Precision, Taran Tactical and others, in fitments for the full Glock lineup.

Fitment by Generation

Glock magwells are not cross-generational. The frame geometry at the base of the grip changed between generations, and the Gen 5 frame in particular takes a different part than Gen 3 and Gen 4.

  • Gen 3 — Requires a Gen 3-specific magwell. Gen 4 and Gen 5 parts will not fit correctly.
  • Gen 4 — Uses the backstrap system; most Gen 4 magwells install with the supplied extended trigger housing pin.
  • Gen 5 — Distinct fitment again, including the G17, G34 and G45.
  • Frame size — Full-size (G17, G34, G45, G47) and compact (G19) frames take different parts within the same generation.

Check the generation and frame size against the individual product listing before ordering. If you're unsure which generation you have, call us and we'll help you identify it.

Division Legality

Magwells are not legal in USPSA Production and are not legal in Carry Optics. They are legal in Limited, Limited Optics and Open. IDPA rules differ — check the current rulebook for your division before adding one to a match gun. Always verify against the current rules, as division equipment lists change.

Installation

Most Glock magwells install with the existing trigger housing pin or a slightly longer pin supplied in the package. It's a punch-and-a-few-minutes job for most shooters, no gunsmithing required. Some designs also require removing the factory backstrap on Gen 4 and Gen 5 frames.
