FCD SBT Battery Tool for Trijicon RMRHD & SRO by Forward Controls Design
Trijicon's SRO and RMR HD are among the best open emitter MRDS in the market. SRO has a battery life of about 3 years with brightness set between 4 and 8, while RMR HD's exceeds 3 years with the brightness set at 5. Our SRO lasted 4 years before the battery had to be replaced, which was when we discovered the joy of removing and reinstalling an SRO battery cover.
Both the SRO and RMR HD have the battery cap partially covered by the hood of the sight, a typical screwdriver with either a flat or Philips bit has to go in at an angle that results in partial engagement between the bit and the slots on the battery cover. In addition to chewing up the slots in short order, when the battery cap is being reinstalled, it's annoyingly easy to cross thread it because the aforementioned angle of the screwdriver puts the battery cap at an angle as well while the screwdriver is turning, when it should be parallel to the sight's body.
For individual users, a simple task that's somewhat tedious only has to be performed once every 2 or 3 years. SBT is designed to make this easy and simple, it's a handy tool especially for unit and agency armorers s that replace batteries for their SROs and RMR HDs annually.
SBT is a dedicated battery cover tool for Trijicon's SRO and RMR HD, it is compatible with Vortex's Defender XT and ST as well as EOTech's EFLX. SBT is designed for use with any screw driver with a 1/4" socket, its reduced diameter in the mid section allows SBT, and the screwdriver to which it's attached to be perpendicular to the battery cover.
Designed for use with a screwdriver that can accept a 1/4 bit, SBT can also be used with the included handle. Follow the MRDS user's manual on battery and cap installation. We like Trijicon SRO's: "rotate/turn the cap clockwise till resistance is felt. take care not to cross thread the cap and pocket threads) on page 18.
