Ed Brown Products has been making precision 1911 parts in Missouri since 1979. Their Memory Groove Beavertail Grip Safety is the most specified 1911 beavertail in the world — more shooters specify the Ed Brown beavertail than all others combined. For 1911 and 2011 builders and gunsmiths, Ed Brown is the reference standard for American-made drop-in and fit-and-finish 1911 components.
The flagship product. Fully machined from stock for unbeatable quality and precision fitting, the Ed Brown beavertail sweeps so high on the gun it is countersunk so a Commander-styled hammer will drop into it. The Memory Grooves are cut into a raised pad on the rear for positive depression — with normal use, your hand becomes accustomed to the feel of the grooves and remembers the perfect grip for consistent shooting. No need to pin the grip safety.
Available in Series 70 and Series 80 configurations, blue and stainless. The beavertail installation jig (#886) is also available — a heat-treated tool that slips into the frame through the thumb safety hole and allows you to make the .250 radius cut on each side of the frame perfectly, even with simple hand tools.
Ben Stoeger Pro Shop stocks the most popular Ed Brown 1911 and 2011 components including:
Most Ed Brown parts are designed for standard 1911 single-stack frames and are compatible with quality 1911-pattern pistols from Springfield Armory, Kimber, Colt, Wilson Combat, and similar. Some parts fit 2011 double-stack frames as well — check individual product listings for compatibility with your specific platform. Ed Brown parts typically require fitting by a qualified gunsmith for optimal function; they are not always drop-in replacements.
Every Ed Brown part is manufactured at their facility in Perry, Missouri. CNC-machined from quality steel stock and held to the tight tolerances that have made the Ed Brown beavertail the reference standard in the 1911 aftermarket for over four decades.
