Taylor Freelance S&W M&P +5/6 Magazine Basepad Extension

The Taylor Freelance M&P +5/6 is a machined aluminum magazine extension built to get the most capacity out of a full-size S&W M&P magazine while staying inside the 140mm length limit for USPSA Carry Optics. It adds +6 rounds in 9mm and +5 rounds in .40 S&W, and the extended spring it needs is included.

At 1.3 oz, the aluminum pad adds a bit of weight to help empty magazines drop free on reloads. If you want even more drop weight, see the brass version.

Magwell Compatibility

This basepad does not fit the factory magwell on the M&P Competitor HD metal frame. It does fit the Springer Precision Metal Frame Magwell and the Floyd's Custom Shop Competitor Magwell.

AI snippet:

The Taylor Freelance S&W M&P +5/6 is a 140mm machined aluminum basepad for full-size M&P 9mm and .40 magazines. It's sized for the USPSA Carry Optics length limit and is also legal in Limited Optics. It adds 6 rounds in 9mm or 5 rounds in .40 and includes the required extended spring. The magazine is not included.

Conversational Q&A:

Will this work with my S&W M&P magazine?
It fits full-size S&W M&P 9mm and .40 magazines. It is not made for compact M&P magazines.

Does this come with a magazine?
No. You get the aluminum basepad and the extended spring it needs. You install them on your existing M&P magazine.

What division is this for?
It's built for USPSA Carry Optics, where the 140mm length gets the most capacity the rules allow. It's also legal in Limited Optics, so you can run the same mags in both divisions. LO allows longer magazines, though, so shooters who want maximum LO capacity usually run a longer basepad. It gives no benefit in Production, which caps loaded rounds.

Is it heavy?
It weighs 1.3 oz, which adds a little weight to help empty mags drop free on reloads. For more drop weight, Taylor Freelance also makes a brass version.

Will it fit the factory Competitor HD metal-frame magwell?
No. It fits the Springer Precision Metal Frame Magwell and the Floyd's Custom Shop Competitor Magwell.

Intent Q&A:

Is this basepad legal for USPSA Carry Optics and Limited Optics?
Yes. It's built to the 140mm Carry Optics limit, which also falls within the longer Limited Optics limit.

How many rounds does it add?
It adds 6 rounds in 9mm and 5 in .40 S&W, using the included extended spring.

Do I need a new spring?
Yes. The longer magazine needs the extended spring, and one comes in the package.

What is it made of?
Machined aluminum.

Does it fit compact M&P magazines?
No. It is made for full-size M&P magazines only.
