Taylor Freelance — Competition Basepads, Magazine Extensions & Magwells

Taylor Freelance (TF) has been engineering competition magazine components for over 30 years — CNC machined in the USA from bar stock, with a design philosophy built around real competition use, not just adding capacity. Ben Stoeger Pro Shop stocks the Taylor Freelance lineup for Canik, CZ, and Walther PDP platforms, including basepads, magazine extensions, and magwells.

Canik Basepads & Extensions

Taylor Freelance offers the deepest Canik basepad lineup on the market:

  • TP9 SF/SFX +4 Basepad — 140mm extension bringing capacity to 22+1, USPSA/3-Gun legal. Works with the stock magazine spring, saving cost. Fits full-size SF/SFX and compact SF Elite/Elite Combat. Also fits the Mec-Gar 18-round Beretta 92 magazine. Add a Grams Engineering spring/follower for +1 additional round.
  • TP9 SF/SFX +0 Basepad — adds .85 oz of weight for better drop-away performance and positive magazine seating without adding capacity — fits inside the box, legal weight for IDPA SSP. Features the "Mag Tracker" dot identification system.
  • +4 Heavy Brass Basepad — same 140mm/22+1 configuration in brass for added weight and recoil management.
  • Mete/Rival Competition Basepad +0 — purpose-built for the Mete/Rival frame geometry with raised shoulders (does not fit standard SF-pattern pistols). Thicker body for positive seating, taller shoulders to prevent over-penetration in the widely-flared Mete/Rival frame, and traction patterns across nearly every surface. Available in brass (2.5 oz) for recoil management.
  • +4 Version 2 Magazine Extension — TF's 30th anniversary flagship design. Fully toolless and user-serviceable down to the smallest internal spring — no tools required for disassembly or maintenance. Self-lubricating locking system with an exceptionally strong locking block, inspired by the Ruger Mark II magazine design. Angular ribbed traction pattern for fumble-free mag grabs. Compatible with all Canik models except the MC9.

CZ Basepads & Extensions

  • Shadow 2 / CZ-75 Signature Series +5 Magazine Extension — derived from TF's proven Tanfoglio "Super Henning" basepad design. Legal for USPSA and 3-Gun. Works best with Mec-Gar 17/19-round magazines and CZ 75 SP-01 18-round factory magazines. May not fit factory CZ 16-round or Mec-Gar 16-round "flush fit" magazines. Available in standard and brass configurations. Note: brass version does not lock the slide back on the last round.

Note: Due to state department export restrictions, some Taylor Freelance CZ parts cannot be shipped internationally.

Walther PDP Basepad & Magwell

  • Walther PDP Competition Basepad — designed for the full-size polymer-frame PDP. Steel frame caution: if you run a full-size steel frame PDP, use the Taylor Freelance magwell alongside this basepad. Without the magwell, the basepad can allow the magazine to over-penetrate and contact the ejector during a slide-locked-back reload.

30 Years of Competition Engineering

Every Taylor Freelance product reflects design details that only come from decades of actual competition use — the short "nose" profile that resists snagging on the draw, magazine identification dot systems for quickly grabbing the right mag under pressure, and platform-specific frame geometry accommodations rather than one-size-fits-all designs. When TF builds a basepad for a specific frame like the Canik Mete/Rival, they engineer around that frame's actual geometry rather than adapting a generic design.
