Identifying Compact vs Full Size Springfield Prodigy Mainspring Housings
Many Springfield Prodigy owners are unsure whether they have the Compact Grip or the Full Size Grip frame. The easiest way to identify your frame is by measuring the overall length of the mainspring housing (MSH).
- Compact Grip Prodigy: Mainspring housing measures approximately 1.650"
- Full Size Grip Prodigy: Mainspring housing measures just over 2 inches
Springfield used the Compact Grip frame on the:
- 3.5" Prodigy models
- 4.25" Compact Grip models
Springfield used the Full Size Grip frame on the:
- 4.25" Full Size Grip models
- 5" Prodigy models

Upgrade your Springfield Prodigy with an EGW blued steel mainspring housing designed specifically for Prodigy pistols using the compact grip module. This part is not just for the 3.5" Prodigy. It also fits the Springfield Prodigy 4.25" Compact models that use the shorter compact grip module.
Machined from steel in the USA, this mainspring housing is a durable upgrade over factory polymer components. The steel construction adds strength, improves the feel of the grip area, and gives the pistol a more solid, finished feel in the hand.
This mainspring housing is designed around the Springfield Prodigy compact grip geometry. Fitment is based on the grip module, not just barrel length, so please verify that your pistol uses the compact grip module before ordering.
Please note: this compact Prodigy mainspring housing is not compatible with our current EGW Springfield Prodigy magwell. We are currently developing a dedicated compact Prodigy mainspring housing and magwell combination specifically for the compact grip module. If you plan to run a magwell on your compact Prodigy, we recommend waiting for the upcoming integrated compact model.
