Product Overview
The EGW Drilled & Tapped Mag Catch for the Springfield Prodigy gives Prodigy owners a stainless steel replacement magazine catch with the added flexibility of a threaded magazine release paddle.
Machined from solid stainless steel, this mag catch provides a durable replacement or upgrade while maintaining geometry designed specifically for the Springfield Prodigy platform.
The face of the mag catch is drilled and tapped 4-40, allowing a compatible magazine release paddle to be installed. This gives shooters the ability to increase the size or change the shape of the release surface for easier access.
An ISMI mag catch spring is included, giving you a quality spring to pair with the new magazine catch rather than requiring reuse of the original spring.
The stainless steel receives a glass bead finish for a uniform matte appearance that pairs well with stainless controls, two-tone builds, and custom Springfield Prodigy pistols.
Please note: The magazine release paddle and 4-40 paddle screw are not included with this mag catch. EGW magazine release paddles include the correct 4-40 paddle screw. The paddle screw can also be purchased separately if needed.

Designed for the Springfield Prodigy
This magazine catch is designed specifically for the Springfield Prodigy double-stack 1911 platform.
Magazine catch geometry determines how the magazine is retained and positioned inside the grip. Proper fit helps provide positive magazine retention while allowing the magazine to release correctly when the catch is pressed.
This mag catch is intended specifically for Springfield Prodigy pistols. Double-stack 1911 and 2011-style grips can vary between manufacturers, so compatibility with other platforms should not be assumed.
4-40 Drilled & Tapped Paddle Interface
The defining feature of this version is the 4-40 threaded hole machined into the face of the magazine catch.
A compatible magazine release paddle can be attached to the catch using a 4-40 paddle screw, providing a larger or differently shaped release surface.
This can make the magazine release easier to reach without requiring as much movement of the shooting hand and gives the shooter the ability to select the paddle style that best fits their setup.
This configuration is particularly useful for competition, range, and custom Prodigy builds where the shooter wants more flexibility than a standard fixed magazine release surface provides.
This product includes the mag catch and ISMI mag catch spring only. The magazine release paddle and 4-40 paddle screw are not included. EGW magazine release paddles include the required 4-40 paddle screw, or the paddle screw can be purchased separately.
Machined From Solid Stainless Steel
The EGW Prodigy mag catch is machined from solid stainless steel.
Machining from solid material allows EGW to closely control the critical geometry of the magazine catch, including the surfaces that interact with the grip and magazine.
This is not a MIM component. The stainless construction also provides corrosion resistance and gives custom builders a durable silver-finished control option.
After machining, the part receives a glass bead finish for a uniform matte stainless appearance.
Includes an ISMI Mag Catch Spring
This mag catch includes an ISMI magazine catch spring.
Including a new spring allows the mag catch to be installed with a fresh spring rather than requiring the original factory spring to be reused.

Installation & Fitment
This mag catch is designed for the Springfield Prodigy, but dimensional differences can exist between individual pistols, grips, magazines, and related components.
Minor fitting may be required due to manufacturing tolerances.
After installation, verify that the mag catch moves freely, positively retains the magazine, releases the magazine correctly when pressed, and does not bind against the grip or magazine body.
If a magazine release paddle is installed, verify that the paddle and 4-40 paddle screw are properly secured and that the paddle does not interfere with the grip, trigger guard, holster, or normal operation of the pistol.
Minor fitting may be required due to manufacturing tolerances. Verify magazine retention, magazine height, release operation, spring tension, and compatibility with any installed magazine release paddle before use.
