What are the differences in the Belt Mount Options?
What are the differences in the Belt Mount Options?
We offer a few options for belt mounts on the Boss holster. The standard aluminum belt plate will come with all of the holsters regardless if you choose one of the options mounts. Something to consider if you go with a non-standard belt mount you may want to go with a shorter Offset Spacer like the 1/4" to stay withing the USPSA rules.
The Boss Standard Belt Mount is included with all orders. This belt plate is cut for a standard 1.5" competition belt (DAA, CR Speed, Ghost). The spacing between the screws will accommodate a 1.75" belt. |
The Blade-Tech Tek-Lok Belt Mount is a great Quick Detach option. These mounts are adjustable and can accommodate 1.25"-2" belts We generally recommend going with the 1/4" offset spacer option with this mount. |
The Comp-Tac PLM Belt Mount is a great Quick Detach option. These mounts are adjustable and can accommodate 1.25"-2" belts We generally recommend going with the 1/4" offset spacer option with this mount |
The Safariland QLS Belt Mount work with the QLS Receiver. You can quickly swap holsters when using the Safariland QLS system. This option includes the fork only. We generally recommend going with the 1/4" offset spacer option with this mount |
Which Offset length should I choose?
This refers to the length of the spacers between the long Boss plate and the Y-Plate that attaches to the holster. The 1/2" spacers are a pretty safe bet for most firearms out there to keep you within the rules for USPSA.
If you go with one of the options mounts (Tek-Lok, PLM, ELS) we would recommend choosing the 1/4" spacers to keep your holster within the rules for USPSA.
We have seen the 3/4" work well for most models, and may work with Tek-Lok & PLM mounts.
We have found the 1" spacers to work with most models but you should measure your setup to insure it falls within the USPSA rules.
You can always just buy the Spacer Hardware Kit here and try the other options.
What is the optional Baller Ball Joint?

Great Quality
Very early on in purchase, but the product was easy to install. Very sturdy with very little movement when drawing.

Back nut
I think that back nuts should be provided for the screws going into the Y attachment instead of having to use my backs from my bladetek belt connector. Otherwise it was as described.

I own 4 of them now
I think that says it all. They just do the job - easy to adjust, rock solid, no issues. I have two mounted with the BOSS hanger attachment on the belt, and two mounted to Blade Tech belt mounts (getting too many belts if you know what I mean).

This hanger is the BOSS
It almost has too much adjustability, but once I got it set the way I liked it, it is solid. I really like that it has enough range of adjustability to be useful in multiple divisions.

Boss Hanger says it all.
Love the Boss Hanger. Keeps everything in place to get a consistent draw each time. Would highly recommend.

Clearance for my thumb!
I shoot a Walther Q5 with a Vortex red dot. I originally purchased a Blade tech holster with their short drop and offset belt attachment using a tech lock fastener. The positioning was good, stability on the belt was just fair. The biggest problem was my thumb was cramped on the draw. I had to bend my thumb and then straighten it out after clearing the holster. The Boss Hanger solved that problem completely. I get a full firing grip, with my thumb extended, while still in the holster. The stability on the belt is also vastly superior to what the techlock clip provided. I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it to my friends.

SO much better!
All I have ever used is a mydex holster with a teklok attatched directly to a belt. This makes the firearm ride very close to your body which isnt bad if you're super skinny. However just a few extra pounds makes it difficult ti get a good , quick grip on the gun. Even mote so if your shooting in the winter months with heavier clothing on. The BOSS hanger gets it the perfect distance away from my body. I love it!
